PLEASE NOTE

We would like to inform you that the Cinque Torri Refuge is FULLY BOOKED for June, July and August 2024. Room availability will resume starting September.

Set in spectacular surroundings, the Cinque Torri refuge is situated at the foot of the south side of the 5 Torri. Inaugurated over a century ago, in October 1904, it is one of the area's longest standing historical structures. Since 1937 it has been run by the Alberti Lelo family.

A much sought after venue for several generations of mountaineers from around the world, it has hosted reigning princes from all over Europe, before and after the Great War, including, in 1916, King Vittorio Emanuele III himself, during his visit to the front to witness the explosion of the Castelletto mine.

From the Cinque Torri refuge you can reach in a few minutes the dozens of rock face routes of the 5 Torri, suitable for both beginners and expert climbers, and the Great War Open Air Museum with its restored trenches and emplacements of the First World War. An hour's walk brings you to the Nuvolao peak, almost 2600 m high, from where you can enjoy one of the most moving panoramas of the Dolomites.

The refuge can be reached on foot – from the Scoiattoli and Bai De Dones refuges, from the SR48 - Loc. Cianzopè, from Ponte Rocurto and from Passo Giau - or by car, taking the road that continues from the SR48, around 11 km from the centre of Cortina. The road is freely accessible during the summer period, apart from the month of August, when it is closed from 9,30 a.m. to 3,30 p.m. In this period there is a shuttle service.

Stay and sample the typical  local dishes - the casunziéi, the chenédi, and the barley soup, all prepared by their son Massimo. You must not miss the tagliatelle with ceps mushrooms.

Let yourself be tempted by the fragrant bread that has just come out of the oven. Try the apple strudel, wrapped in the warmth of the great majolica stove, perhaps after spending the night in the refuge Cinque Torri.

The Cinque Torri refuge has a characteristic romantic and family atmosphere. It is open only in summer, from the start of June until the end of September. The rooms cater for no more than 4 people, with bunk beds or beds with linen and duvets. Rooms with bunk beds can be shared with other people.
