Experience history hands-on

Cortina Delicious offers you an immersion in history while walking in the nature paradise of the Dolomites: the open-air museums of WW1, an ancient castle and historical re-enactments are outdoor experiences which transmit knowledge about the past in a fun and healthy way.
These mountains bear the indelible signs of one of the most terrible events of the twentieth century: the First World War and, especially, the bloody battles fought at high altitudes.

The WW1 open-air museums

Thanks to the cooperation of the former enemies, the Italian and Austro-Hungarian emplacements on the peaks surrounding the Falzarego Paas have been restored, and the largest WW1 museum in the Dolomites consisting of three open-air museums, Lagazuoi, 5 Torri and Sasso di Stria, and the Tre Sassi Fort, has been set up. A visit to these sites is an alternative way to learn history safely and outdoors.
These war sites can easily be reached on foot or by lift facilities. Easy hiking trails lead along emplacements, through trenches and carefully restored tunnels.
Special treatment is given to the younger set: up to the age of seven, kids accompanied by a paying adult ride on the lift facilities for free. Discounts are provided for groups and children between 8 and 15 years.

Historical re-enactment at the 5 Torri “EXPERIENCE HISTORY HANDS-ON” - 12th EDITION

Every year in August, at the 5 Torri open-air museum of the First World War, passionate historians from all over the world wear a uniform and give a practical exhibition and explanation of the living conditions of the soldiers on the Dolomite front during the First World War.
