Set in a spectacular surrounding, the Cinque Torri Refuge is situated at the foot of the south side of the 5 Torri.

Inaugurated in October 1904, it is one of the area's longest-standing historical buildings. Since 1937, it has been run by the Alberti 'Lelo' family.

A much sought-after venue for several generations of mountaineers from around the world, it has hosted reigning princes from all over Europe, before and after WW1, including, in 1916, King Victor Emmanuel III himself, during his visit to the front to witness the explosion of the Castelletto mine.

From the Cinque Torri Refuge you can reach in a few minutes the dozens of rock face routes of the 5 Torri, suitable for both beginners and expert climbers, and the WW1 Open Air Museum with its restored trenches and emplacements of the Great War.

In less than an hour, you can reach the top of Mount Nuvolau, at an altitude of almost 2600 metres, and enjoy one of the most breathtaking views in the Dolomites. And it takes even less time to reach the start of the fixed rope route Via Ferrata Averau.

Here, you can relive the romantic atmosphere of the early 20th century, when mountaineers from all over the world began to discover the beauty of the Dolomites. The Alberti 'Lelo' family invites you to sit down at the table and taste the dishes of the past, reinterpreted with great creativity by chef Massimo. Try the "Casunziei", ravioli stuffed with seasonal vegetables: beetroot, peppers, potatoes and pumpkin. And don't miss the ricotta strudel, which is best eaten sitting by the large tiled stove. Dinners are organised by reservation.

Not by chance, this refuge is one of the refreshment points for the Delicious Trail Dolomiti and the Short Delicious Trail Dolomiti, a trail running event linked to the Delicious Festival Dolomiti, where it serves its specialities to the competitors.

It is open only in summer, from early June until the end of September. The rooms cater for no more than 4 people, with bunk beds or beds with linen and duvets. Rooms with bunk beds can be shared with other people.
