Its terrace is famous enough for it to warrant a mention in Bell’Italia, the Touring Club Guide, the Rivets Della Montana (the Mountain Magazine) and many other publications.
It is on the peak of Mount Lagazuoi above the Falzarego Pass, halfway between Cortina d'Ampezzo and the Badia Valley, along the Alta Via No. 1 and 9, between the Natural Parks of Fanes and Sennes and the d'Ampezzo Dolomites.
Easy to reach on foot or by taking the Lagazuoi cable car, it is a perfect base for visiting the restored tunnels, trenches and emplacements of the open air museum of the Great War, for skiing in the Cortina and Badia Valley territory and along the famous Armentarola slope, the longest and most spectacular in the Dolomites.
Located directly on the slopes, the refuge is part of the Super8 Ski Tour circuit. This Ski Tour is extremely panoramic. It winds around the mountains in the shape of an 8 along, easy slopes and has several entrances: the chairlifts of Bai de Dones and Giau pass, the Falzarego pass or Armentarola.
You can stay overnight, and there are also bar and restaurant facilities offering local cuisine; two delicious dishes are polenta with venison and Strudel.
The Rifugio Lagazuoi offers two different types of accommodation: the rooms on the first floor, some with balcony, all furnished in wood, complete with bed linen; or the spacious dormitories with bunk beds, with mattress cover and eiderdown, while bed linen is not provided.
Now guests can enjoy the breathtaking views while relaxing in the Finnish sauna at 2752 metres of altitude, pampered by soothing vapours and the warm fragrance of wood.
We advise you to book a few days ahead.
The Delicious Cortina team, which also includes the refuge Lagazuoi, organizes all kinds of events throughout the year: from high altitude concerts, parties on the panoramic terraces, exhibitions and meetings in the cultural centres of the area, historical re-enactments in the museums of WWI, sports competitions, themed dinners and photo competitions to solidarity events.
The complete list of all these experiences is published in the events calendar.
