The Kaiserjäger path

The Kaiserjäger path is very important from a historical point of view and very scenic.
This breathtaking equipped trail winds along the communication trenches of the Austro-Hungarian soldiers between the Valparola pass, the Austrian ledge of Mount Lagazuoi and its summit.
The starting point is the Valparola pass. From here, the path follows the Austro-Hungarian trenches and reaches the Vonbank emplacement, the barrage line that the Italians tried to bypass without success.
You can also reach the Vonbank emplacement on the path that starts from the Falzarego pass and then continues to the left on the scree of Mount Lagazuoi, a scree created by 4 exploded Austrian mines.
From the Vonbank emplacement the path zigzags up to the famous suspended bridge.
Please note: after the bridge there is an exposed passage where it is useful to have a lanyard and a climbing harness.
Once you reach the Austrian ridge, you can visit the restored trenches and tunnels.
From here the path continues towards the top of the Lagazuoi at 2778 meters of altitude.
