Built in 1969 by the mountain guide Lorenzo Lorenzi, the Mountain hut Rifugio Scoiattoli is still run by our family.
We are particularly proud of our panoramic terrace, from where you can view the climbers in action on the walls of the famous 5 Torri.
The refuge is right next to the ski slopes and is in the immediate vicinity of the Great War Open Museum, where you will be able to walk along the restored trenches and emplacements. Furthermore, the Scoiattoli Refuge is situated on the skiing circuit Super8 Ski Tour. This Ski Tour is extremely panoramic. It winds around the mountains in the shape of an 8 on easy slopes and has several entrances: the chairlifts of Bai de Dones and Giau pass, the Falzarego pass or Armentarola.
It takes particular care of our cuisine, with traditional local dishes and those of the Ampezzo area, revived in an imaginative way. You simply must try our “Violette ai sapori del bosco” (“Violets with flavours from the woods”), a delicious home-made pasta flavoured with bilberries. The Scoiattoli refuge also provides an excellent snack bar service.
In winter you can experience a different kind of evening (by appointment only): an ascent to the refuge on the illuminated chair lift, followed by a typical dinner.
Groups are welcome.
Rifugio Scoiattoli offers an unusual romantic experience: a large open air, wood-fired hot tub for relaxing soaks slipping a glass of sparkling vine while enjoying the starry sky at high altitude.
The true fascination of the Monti Pallidi emerges with the fiery colours of the sunset and the more delicate ones of the early morning. Rooms have an exclusive panoramic view of the famous mountains of Cortina.
Breakfast is rich and abundant, with rigorously prepared home-made cakes. You must try our “salame al cioccolato” (“chocolate ‘salami’”), a classic sweet revived with vanilla cream to make it even more special.
The host organizes dinners including transport with an all-terrain vehicle or snowmobile, wedding banquets and lunches for special events.
