The Great War snowshoe hike to Cima Gallina

The Cima Gallina hike at sunset is an experience not to be missed. It is a dazzling one-hour snowshoe hike with an elevation gain of 300 metres.

Along the way, you will see tunnels, emplacements for the Italian artillery that faced the Austrian line on Mt. Lagazuoi, a command barrack, and lookout posts. The destination of this hike is the dormitory suspended in the rock, from which you can enjoy a magnificent view.

The starting point is the Col Gallina Refuge. A mountain guide accompanies you safely to the stronghold, where a re-enactor wearing a faithfully reproduced uniform will welcome you,  tell you anecdotes and make you relive the events that occurred on the so-called 'stone front'. The program also includes a chance to savour the best of the region with a selection of local products.

The small dormitory carved out of the small stronghold was faithfully reconstructed and equipped to provide the more adventurous guests with the opportunity to experience a night ‘at the front’.

Thanks to the accompaniment of a mountain guide, the tour is also suitable for children and disabled people.

The rate includes the rental of snowshoes, poles, a headlamp, the accompaniment by a re-enactor and a mountain guide, and a snack inside the restored barrack.
