Cortina's new gondola lift connecting Son dei Prade and Bai de Dones
begins winter operations on Wednesday 21st  December

The new gondola lift starting at Son dei Prade connects the Tofana area with the 5 Torri and thus with the entire ski area Falzarego and Lagazuoi.

Hence, skiers can comfortably reach - without buses or cars - the 5 Torri and Lagazuoi ski area, where the Armentarola slope connects them to the entire Dolomiti Superski carousel and tackle the Sellaronda, the Great War Ski Tour and the Super8 Ski Tour. And vice versa, skiers from Badia and Val Gardena can reach the slopes at the foot of the Tofana on skis.

The connection project was aimed at reducing car traffic and thus the environmental impact. The cableway was constructed by the company LEITNER Ropeways with two detachable gondola lifts with a midway station. It has 52 ten-person cabins and a transport capacity of 1,100 people per hour. The cableway has an overall length of over 4.600 m and  requires 15 minutes.

The first section begins in Son dei Prade, in the Pocol ski area at the foot of the Tofane, and reaches Cianzopè. The second section leads to Bai de Dones, close to the 5 Torri chairlift.
