Experience history hands-on

The 5 Torri and Lagazuoi Open Air Museums of the First World War with the historical re-enactors: two days learning history while having fun!

On 3th and 4th August don't miss the unique opportunity to receive interesting explanations and satisfy any curiosity concerning WW1 on the Dolomite front by passionate historians.

On Saturday 3th August a group of 40 re-enactors in historical uniforms will be stationed in the trenches of the Open Air Museum of World War 1 on Mt. Lagazuoi and will be happy to explain to those who want the events and the living conditions of the entrenched soldiers.

On Sunday 4th August 60 re-enactors in historical uniform from all over the world will stage a big representation in the emplacements.

On Sunday 4th August at 10.30 the priest Don Alessandro will celebrate a Holy Mass service in front of a mobile war altar wearing a historical uniform.

Museological setups and representations will show live the living conditions in a military camp in high altitude. Among other things,  you can see an original mountain gun 75  B, an Italian machine gun Maxim 1911and a field hospital led by the medical officer Dr. Mauro Fiorentin.
In order to recreate all aspects of this historical period, at noon the re-enactors will eat their lunch “military rations” from original mess kits from the First World War.
