Cortina Delicious is a paradise for road cycling lovers.
Reachable from the Dolomite passes, it offers world-famous routes thanks to important events that take place in this area. Passo Falzarego, Passo Giau and Passo Pordoi are all linked to the Giro d'Italia, a historic route in stages that has fascinated thousands of fans since 1909. Another important event is the Dolomites Marathon, one of the most coveted races on the cycling scene. The route winds through spectacular landscapes, with a track of about 138 km and a difference in altitude of over 4,000 meters. Cyclists face iconic passes such as Falzarego, Campolongo, Pordoi, and Giau: the highlight is crossing the historic Great Dolomite Road SS 48, an enchanting passage between majestic mountains and alpine valleys.
Cortina Delicious and its refreshments are located along the roads of very popular itineraries; it is no coincidence that the area boasts a Road Bike Hotel of the highest level, the Hotel Villa Argentina, which offers specific services dedicated to bicycle lovers. Along the routes you can stop at the Delicious restaurants, huts and refuges, all equipped with bicycle racks and shelter in case of rain, some with recharging stations for electric bikes. Each stop is an opportunity to enjoy high quality lunches and snacks: at Passo Giau, the Fedare hut; along the Grande Strada of the Dolomites SS 48 (The Great Dolomites Road), the restaurant of the Villa Argentina hotel, of Hotel al Sasso di Stria and of Hotel Ciasa Vervei the Piccolo Pocol meublè, Baita Resch, the Col Gallina hut and the La Baita hotel restaurant; in view of the 5 Torri and the Tofana di Rozes, Baita Bai de Dones; nestled in a wonderful high altitude pasture towards Passo Giau, the Malga Peziè de Parù hut. The best times to ride are June and September, but also October with its warm autumn colors, mild climate and blue sky is an excellent choice for bike excursions.
