The mountain hut Rifugio Dibona is located at the foot of the majestic Tofana di Rozes, the iconic mountain of Cortina d'Ampezzo. It is just 8 km away from Cortina and offers a wonderful view of the Ampezzo valley.
Built during the First World War and named after Colonel Tarditi (commander of the front section Val Costeana), Rifugio Tarditi, this hut was one of the buildings of the Vallone Tofana base, from where departed the attacks on the Forcella Fontananegra.
This hut was rebuilt between 1952 and 1953 by Mario Recafina and Antonia Dibona and dedicated to Angelo Dibona (Cortina d'Ampezzo, 1879-1956), the greatest Italian mountain guide ever, who put up plenty of routes in the Dolomites and in the Austrian mountains.
Over the following years this Rifugio was enlarged and renovated several times.
Today the Dibona Hut is a popular base for hikers, climbers and mountain bikers in summer, ski-tourers and snowshoers in winter.
It is the ideal starting point for all mountaineers who want to climb the famous routes of the Tofana di Rozes.
Furthermore, the Dibona refuge as an equipped conference room for about 40 persons.
In summer this hut can be easily reached by car on the forest road branching off from the Fedarola crossroad on the Great Dolomites Road SS48.
A snowmobile in winter is offered on reservation.
From December to Epiphany and during the winter weekends it is possible to book TOFANA BY NIGHT DINNERS with snowmobile service.
On the panoramic terrace concerts and events, combined with unique landscapes, high-class musicians and the excellent kitchen of the Recafina family, fascinate the guests.
The kitchen offers a menu prepared with regional ingredients and according to the local recipes, such as the Casunziei, veal goulasch and venison stew.
Don't miss the Garganelli (a type of pasta) sautéed with Radicchio and Italian sausage and the legendary apple strudel.
The Delicious Cortina team, which also includes the refuge Dibona, organizes all kinds of events throughout the year: from high altitude concerts, parties on the panoramic terraces, exhibitions and meetings in the cultural centres of the area, historical re-enactments in the museums of WWI, sports competitions, themed dinners and photo competitions to solidarity events.
