The moon landing with Astronomitaly

Observation of the sky from the Averau Refuge at 2416 m of altitude

18th-19th September 2020

On Friday, 18th September and Saturday, 19th September, in collaboration with Astronomitaly, the Averau Refuge celebrates the Apollo 11 lunar mission and its crew, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, the first persons to step onto the lunar surface on 20th July 1969.

Astronomitaly is the first project of astrotourism in Italy that respects nature and protects the celestial heritage. The location and the days were not chosen by chance: the Averau Refuge was awarded the certification "The most beautiful skies in Italy" by Astronomitaly, which identifies the best stargazing sites in Italy.
On these two days there’s New Moon and this lunar phase, combined with an excellent position of the Milky Way,  allows the best view of the year.
Two professionals equipped with optical instruments for the observation of the sky will be available to anyone who wants to stargaze.
